draden (1999 - 2003)

Draden is a group title for a series of projects involving the use of amplified and processed fluorescent light bulbs, using realtime digital processing and a custom-built MIDI-to-lightbulb controller built by James Lo. It has taken the form of live performances, installations, and a combination of the two, ranging in size from two to eight light/sound sources.

Draden was comissioned by the Korzo Theater, and was first realized there in December of 1999, with support from Stroom (The Hague Foundation for Visual Arts). Further development was supported by a fellowship from the Media Alliance in New York City.
